Taking inspiration from the 1996 senate wheel line up I knew that I wanted all illusive packaging to have a similar vibe. Although copying those wheels and having a crayola or milk box packaging would be unreal it’s not what we’re about. A gentle nod to the past while keeping it fresh is a much better direction.
being a collector of 90’s nostalgia I knew that a lot of the designs for illusive will have a throwback feel so it was an easy decision to theme our 58mm wheel around a yellow cassette player that I have. Keeping it simple with the wheel graphics being speaker mesh made the packaging design an easy choice to actually incorporate them as the speakers on the packaging.
When thinking about the sizing for the design on the box it was missing something so what better way to fill the void than to have another box with a cassette tape graphic. And what better product to put in it than a sample of our special formula skate wax
the small details like the tuning scale being set on size and hardness where little additions that just fall into place, just like being able to turn the dials to 11.
I am very proud of our boombox wheel set and I hope you vibe with it.
